The project:
This is an R&D to make innovative and exciting Game Theatre* for and inspired by young people (14+) funded by Arts Council Wales. As part of this project we will run game tests with various youth groups across Wales in order to test the piece of game theatre we're developing.
*Game theatre is an emerging art form that fuses gaming with theatre. It is truly interactive with the audience playing an essential part by voting,completing tasks and/or managing resources that have a tangible effect on the story.
The roll:
The outreach officer will be responsible for recruiting game testers (aged 14-25), and organising dates and times for up to 6 game test sessions. They will set up connections with pre-existing youth groups across Wales who will make up our core game testers. For one open session at the Barry Memo, they will also recruit participants outside of pre-existing groups.
The outreach officer may also be required to undertake some evaluation tasks such as processing equality monitoring forms and participant feedback.

Please note: this is an “ideal wish list”, so please apply even if you do not meet all the criteria. Where? The project will mainly be based at the Barry Memo in the Vale of Glamorgan though game test will happen across Wales. The outreach officer will work mostly remotely though it may be helpful to be local to South Wales. How much time and money? The outreach officer will be working an equivalent of two weeks for a total of £1100. This time can be managed flexibly. This is a freelance position. When? Initial writing phase w/c 21st November 2022 Up to 6 game tests between 28th November 2022 - 12th February 2023 Final writing phase w/c 20th Feb 2023 Application Deadline: 16th October 2022 at 23.59.
