27 May
2pm
Free, bilingual, accessible (BSL and captions)
Following on from our first Beyond The Cities event in March 2021, join Dirty Protest on 27 May at 2pm (UK time) for our second free, interactive, bilingual, accessible (BSL and captions) online Zoom event that brings together artists, producers and communities who live or work in Wales' rural and post-industrial areas.
If you're in the valleys, countryside, small towns and villages, farmlands, mountains, hillsides, by the sea and estuaries of Wales... we want to hear from you!
For this second meeting, we want to start building a stronger network. Our guest hosts:
Jonny Cotsen
Lisa Jên Brown
Angharad Tudor
will run sessions to get the room talking and sharing.
We want to know -
Who is in the room and what support and resources do you need to do your best work in a rural context?
What projects do you have, and what do you want to make happen?
What partnerships are you looking for to make your work happen?
What do you want from a rural performing arts network?
Is it true that urban culture is the "norm" and what should artists, venues, and policy and decision makers do, so that rural artists are better represented and supported?
What is 'rural' Welsh culture, is it distinct to 'urban' and are these divisions useful?
And more...! There will be time for you to tell each other about your own projects and who you want to partner with, share your ideas and help us to start building a network of rural performance artists and producers in Wales. The event will be live captioned and BSL interpreted. We will also have a Welsh translator in the room and we actively encourage your contributions in Welsh. Please let us know, either by emailing info@dirtyprotesttheatre.co.uk or when prompted at the booking stage on Eventbrite, if you have any additional access needs.
